Drew Allen
Having grown up in rural Idaho, I was always looking for ways to pass the time and create interesting things to impress family and friends. Arts and crafts, drawing and eventually videos. Short films, experimental, documentary-style. Whenever I could produce a video as a final project in class, I would. Government, science, English…didn’t matter. I always found a way to say what I had to say through video.

Then one day, my Dad said I could make money in video. Wow…what a revolutionary day that was! I started working as a member of the studio crew (teleprompter operator, camera op, audio op, technical director, occasional runner and janitor) at local TV stations during high school and eventually went off to Seattle for college with my then girlfriend, Rhea (also video savvy). There I earned my Associate’s degree in video production from the Art Institute of Seattle. After graduation and editing a feature-length documentary with the infamous Sir Mix-a-Lot himself, Rhea and I decided to tie the knot, move home to Idaho and start a business (all within the course of about three months).

Peppershock Media, founded in 2003, has been our baby (along with our two boys). We’ve grown from just the two of us producing videos for local small businesses, to a full service advertising agency with a staff of ten, an office/studio and clients of all sizes, all across the world.

My goal with Learn Video Production is to share the knowledge I’ve gained from school, experiences in business ownership, video production, advertising, marriage, parenting and life in general. I want to help you grow your own skills, keep things in perspective (don’t sweat the small stuff cause it’s all small stuff) and ultimately help you grow your income in the video production industry.
